Why Is It Not Used?

Because hesitation appears before value is felt

Because hesitation appears before value is felt

Even good products and services may not be used. The reason is not always lack of value. People may not know what to do on the first screen. The words may be difficult. There may be too many steps. There may be a little anxiety. When people feel these small hesitations, they tend to stop acting. Symptoms such as the company's appeal not being communicated, or a website renewal not producing results, often connect to the same issue. In UX design, before appearance, it is necessary to see where people stop.

It organizes the flow of judgment and action

UX is the experience a person has from before use to after use. It includes screen structure, language, steps, response, and a sense of safety. For that reason, UX design is not only arranging a screen. It creates a flow in which people see, understand, trust, try, and continue. This is also important in BtoB brand strategy. The more specialized a service is, the harder it is for the other person to understand immediately. That is why difficult value needs to be translated into an experience people can move through without confusion.

Align cue, trust, value, and ease

For people to act, several conditions need to align. First, there must be a cue that makes them notice. Next, they need to feel safe at first glance. They also need to understand the value for themselves. Finally, they need to be able to start immediately. If any one of these is missing, people leave midway. Even if the appearance is polished, unclear language stops people. Even if value is communicated, too many application steps stop people. Behavior design looks at both people's feelings and the steps they need to take.

Turn an unfamiliar experience into something personal

Turn an unfamiliar experience into something personal

In the PROJECTS case MY HOME MARKET, BOEL needed to communicate a new way of considering a home: comparing and experiencing homes through a smartphone or PC. Because many people assume homebuilding takes a great deal of time and effort, BOEL designed communication that made the service easy to understand and easy to imagine as one's own life. https://www.boel.co.jp/projects/my-home-market/ UX design works in the same way. Showing newness as it is does not easily move people. Creating a flow where users can receive the experience as personally relevant becomes the entrance to action.

Why Does Appearance Matter?

It becomes an entrance to trust, not decoration

Appearance is often treated as a surface matter. Yet people make a large part of their judgment about trust from the first impression. Color, space, photographs, and the structure of language unconsciously create safety or anxiety. Therefore, organizing appearance is not decoration. It reduces anxiety before action. In brand experience design, impression and ease of use are not separated. If there is value to communicate, it needs to be felt at a glance and connected to the next step.

Review from the places where people leave

Review from the places where people leave

The first thing to look at is not a fine feature. It is where people stop, go back, or hesitate. Are they leaving before inquiry? Do they read the explanation but still not understand the value? Do they feel burdened during application? Choose one point of drop-off and put the anxiety or load there into words. Then improve language, order, steps, and appearance little by little. UX improvement is not only a large renovation. It begins by reducing small points of hesitation.

Design the Decision turns hesitation into action

BOEL does not see UX design as only screen improvement. We see it as the design of clarifying what a company promises, where the other person understands it, and which anxieties they overcome before acting. Human behavior is a signal that a company's intent has reached society. Design the Decision connects appearance, language, steps, and experience to create a state where people can choose without confusion. There, the brand is not decoration. It becomes a path of judgment that supports action.

Where Should Companies Begin?
Start from the idea of “Review from the places where people leave” and test one touchpoint or decision. Rather than changing everything at once, review the result and expand gradually.
